Bikar Atoll was established as a traditionally-managed protected area before the RMI's independence from the US in 1986, but has not been re-established and is therefore not officially recognized as an MPA.

Bikar Atoll ( Marshallese : Pikaar , /p??ka??ar?/ or [pi??g???r?] ^{[ 1 ]} ) is an uninhabited atoll in the Ratak Chain of the Marshall Islands . It is one of the smallest atolls in the Marshalls and located at 12°14'N 170°08'E ? / ? 12.233°N 170.133°E ? / 12.233; 170.133 . Due to its relative isolation from the main islands in the group, Bikar has a largely undisturbed flora and fauna that has been allowed to exist in a relatively pristine condition.
