Cape Cross Seal Reserve was established by the Namibian government for the protection of the largest breeding colony of Cape fur seals in the world. It is a popular tourist destination with a recycled viewing walkway and feeding or throwing things at the seals is forbidden. Ironically, the park is the site of a major seal cull. The government claims it is necessary to protect fish resources from the more than 210,000 aniamls in the park. Activists claim it is sold for skins.
